Creating Positive Energy for Peace

A Plea for Peace

Inspired by the story of Sadako and her commitment to create 1000 origami paper cranes so that her prayer for peace would be answered, the children of our church and community created over 1000 paper cranes which were used to decorate the church for our Peace service last Sunday.

During the service, the band performed a new song written by Canadian folksinger Raffi, who had taken the inspiring words from Jack Layton’s final letter to Canadians and set them to music. The message appeared in coloured chalk on a sidewalk in Ottawa:

This simple but beautiful song is being offered free to the world by Raffi as an audio download and as sheet music at his website, www.childhonouring.org. It is called “Letter to a Nation”, and I found that it moved me to tears.

It is amazing how Raffi endures in my world! I first started buying his albums in my ECE days in daycare! Funny how we are all evolving together in the same direction of sorts.
